OECD-IEA Climate Change Expert Group (CCXG) Global Forum on Environment and Climate Change

On September 12th, Professor Phoebe Koundouri participated in the OECD-IEA Climate Change Expert Group (CCXG) Global Forum on Environment and Climate Change, held at the OECD Headquarters in Paris. This global forum represents a collaborative effort between the OECD and IEA, with a specific focus on engaging climate negotiators and individuals involved in the implementation, funding, or research of climate policies. The event drew in a diverse audience comprising over 300 government delegates and experts from various developed and developing nations.

Prof. Koundouri moderated the session on “Lessons from other processes and initiatives for a just transition work programme”. Within this session, the panelists explored insights and lessons learned from various activities, initiatives, and processes relating to a just transition, both within and outside the UNFCCC, that the new JTWP which was established at COP27 to discuss pathways towards achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement, could potentially build on. A decision on the design and modalities of the JTWP is expected to be adopted at CMA5 at COP28 in December 2023.
